Hardcover in pictorial boards, First Edition, First Printing (with "First published in England 1966" to copyright page & no later printing dates.). 10 x 10 inches. 96 pages with 95 black and white images by Jeffrey Bernard (who was renowned for his Low Life column in the Spectator), with insightful commentary by Frank Norman throughout offering wonderfully evocative Sixties photographs of the Soho strip clubs, prostitutes, restaurants, trattorias & coffee houses, markets, delicatessens, Madame Floris's bakery, shopkeepers, bums, Foyles Bookshop, The York Minster & other pubs, betting shops & gambling clubs, night clubs (such as Muriel's, The Rockingham, & The Establishment), along with crime scenes, plus images of local characters throughout. Contains some mild nudity. BOOK CONDITION: Very Good Plus (VG+); a solid, tight, clean copy with the only defect being a binder's error for 2 leaves (4 pages, pp 41-44) were misbound with the lower half loose from the signatures, showing small tears along the gutter and wrinkling to the upper left corner (invloving the text) at the top of page 43 anf affecting the upper right corner of the image on page 44), otherwise the book was well stored and remains in excellent condition with the covers presenting quite nicely.
