SIGNED/INSCRIBED and DATED by George Rodger on the fep.: "To Mary & Desmond / who also love / the "faraways" / George Rodger / Oct. 1955" NB: Desmond Young (1892-1966) was an English adventurer and British Brigadier from Sark, Channel Islands that in 1942 was captured by the famous German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel's Afrika Corps in North Africa during WW I. Young escaped Rommel's captivity and later wrote the famous biography about Rommel titled The Desert Fox (1950) that was quickly made into a movie of the same name in which Young played himself in the film (1951). BOOK CONDITION: Fine; a solid, tight, clean copy with a charming ex-libris (of Desmond Young) inside front cover, hints of foxing to front endpapers; in a Fine dust jacket showing a hint of toning along spine and a tiny bit of loss to lower front corner.
