George Dureau presents a collection of 50 black and white images that will cause you to rethink how you look at the human form. Edward Lucie-Smith in his Introduction to this collection says that we are asked to see these models, some of them deformed, "as our equals, not as objects of pity." The artist's own comment is that he is seeking to tell the truth. Dureau's work here was highly innovative and influenced Mapplethorpe's approach and style (not the other way around). Fine / fine.
