Limted edition of only 5000 individiually numbered copies (of which this is number 4680). 4to. 292 pages fillled with black and white photographic images throuhgout in rich duotone. Includes and updated foreword by internationally renowned travel and fiction writer Paul Theroux. A very rare copy of this edition SIGNED by Peter Beard on the title page, including Beard having traced his forearm and hand extending across the upper margin of both the title page and the blank page opposite the title page. Within his traced hand Beard writes: "RnD xxx from Peter (Beard) / all Best wishes as ever! / more soon". Included with the book is an invitation card to a VIP Members Reception (held on June 18th, 2016 by Peter beard and his wife Nejma) for an exhibition titled Last Word from Paradise at The Museum at Guild Hall in East Hampton NY. The invitation card is also SIGNED by Peter Beard with a small heart drawing. NB: Very few of these 50th Anniversary edition books were ever signed, this being the first we have ever seen or handled, since Beard made very few public appearances after 2013 up until the Covid 19 pandemic and his unfortunate passing in 2020. Perfect for the SIGNED Beard completist. BOOK CONDITION: Fine; a solid, tight, clean copy in a Near Fine slipcase whowing light overall wear to edges and corners with bumping about 3 inches long at the center of one edge along the slipcase opening.
