"Miho Kajioka creates her works based on snapshots. She carries her camera everywhere and intuitively shoots whatever she finds interesting. She creates her poetic images through her meticulous darkroom work. Kajioka considers herself more of a painter than a photographer, but her first collotype portfolio, memories of future, centers around the theme of Girls and the ephemeral and mysterious sepia image emerges as if tracing a memory." BOOK CONDITION: Fine; a solid, tight, clean copy.

Initiated by French publisher Iikki, “Flowers Bloom, Butterflies Come” mixes photographs by France-based Japanese artist Miho Kajioka and music by UK-based combo Observatories (consisting of Ian Hawgood and Craig Tattersall) in a genre- and medium-transcending publication. Kajioka, whose photographic practice is based on intuitive snapshots, utilizes her collected photography as the material from which she creates her poetic, multi-layered images. For “Flowers Bloom, Butterflies Come”, Kajioka and Observatories entered into an artistic dialogue with each other. Kajioka’s images – frozen moments, processed impressions, and instants filtered through long-established Japanese traditions of art and beauty – feature in a variety of ways, from full-page arrangement that seem like illustration-like scratchings to small, concentrated squares of focused meaning.
